Modelling of Pool-Type Fishways Flows: Efficiency and Scale Effects Assessment

چکیده
In this study, the 3D numerical modelling of flow in a pool-type fishway with bottom orifices was performed using computational fluid dynamics (CFD) software (FLOW-3D®). Numerical results were compared experimental data obtained from acoustic Doppler velocimetry (ADV) and particle image (PIV) measurements. Several hydrodynamic variables that influence fishways efficiencies, such as depths, patterns, water velocity, turbulent kinetic energy, Reynolds normal stresses, shear stress parallel to component, qualitatively quantitatively compared. The model accurately reproduced complex field, showing an overall good agreement between predictions for analysed variables. importance performing validation all parameters under analyses highlighted. Additionally, scaling effects by running upscaled prototype fishway. similar accuracy both physical dimensions no evidence scale effects. present study concludes CFD models (namely FLOW-3D®) may be used adequate efficient design analysis tool new geometries, reducing complementing testing.

Pool-Type Fishways: Two Different Morpho-Ecological Cyprinid Species Facing Plunging and Streaming Flows
Fish are particularly sensitive to connectivity loss as their ability to reach spawning grounds is seriously affected. The most common way to circumvent a barrier to longitudinal connectivity, and to mitigate its impacts, is to implement a fish passage device. However, these structures are often non-effective for species with different morphological and ecological characteristics so there is a ...
متن کاملassessment of the efficiency of s.p.g.c refineries using network dea
data envelopment analysis (dea) is a powerful tool for measuring relative efficiency of organizational units referred to as decision making units (dmus). in most cases dmus have network structures with internal linking activities. traditional dea models, however, consider dmus as black boxes with no regard to their linking activities and therefore do not provide decision makers with the reasons...

although there are studies on pragmatic assessment, to date, literature has been almost silent about native and non-native english raters’ criteria for the assessment of efl learners’ pragmatic performance. focusing on this topic, this study pursued four purposes. the first one was to find criteria for rating the speech acts of apology and refusal in l2 by native and non-native english teachers...

Scale Effects in Modelling Two-phase Air-water Flows
Beside analytical approaches, physical modelling represents probably the oldest design tool in hydraulic engineering. For free surface flows, the similitude according to a Froude similarity allows for a correct representation of the dominant forces, namely gravity and inertia. In parallel, fluid constants such as the surface tension and the viscosity might be incorrectly reproduced, affecting t...
